The Bushcraft Weekend is an ideal starting course for the beginner and those that have completed our Introduction to Bushcraft Course. It's a hands on chance to practice your skills. We hand the camp running over to you. So you maintain the fire, chop and saw wood, prepare and cook over the fire. All of the camp-craft skills used when outdoors. The weekend starts on Friday 7.00pm and finishes Sunday 12pm.

- Knife and saw safety and techniques in carving and cutting skills.
- Tool maintenance in the field.
- Fire-craft. Lighting and maintaining your fire.
- Back country cooking over a fire.
- Water safe use and management.
- Use of tarps.
- Kit lists and preparation for Bushcraft trips.
- Leave no trace.
The course is suitable for
Suitable for individuals, families, groups of friends and colleagues and youth group leaders wishing to learn or improve their Bushcraft skills. Children under 18 must be accompanied by an adult. You will not be expected to do anything you are uncomfortable with. Courses are designed to be enjoyable and are not in the format of a military exercise.
What to bring and wear
Waterproofs and outdoor clothing. Camping equipment for a weekend. Full kit list will be sent to participants. Meals are provided and you will be preparing and cooking them. Vegetarian is also available with advance notice.
Staff will prepare the dinner for you whilst you settle into camp and you are introduced to the course structure and camp equipment. Once settled in, we will take you through tool usage safety and techniques when using knives and saws as you will be using these throughout the weekend. You can then prepare your sleeping arrangements which for the first night will be sleeping under a tarp.
Breakfast is provided. We will start the day with survival shelter building. Our instructors will teach you where is best to place a shelter and show you what types of shelters can be built. Then it's your chance to build your own shelter that you will sleep in overnight. Lunch is provided and will be fish. You will learn how to prepare and cook fish over a fire without any modern equipment. We will also discuss other uses for fish. The afternoon involves foraging and fire-lighting techniques. The evening meal will be preparing pigeon, rabbit or deer depending on season and availability. We will finish the evening looking at how to source, purify and filter water.
Breakfast is provided. The morning will be learning about animal tracks and signs. Then it's time to pack up camp and finish the weekend.
Gift Vouchers are posted out 1st class signed for. They are printed on high quality glossy card, ideal for a present and contain a unique voucher number. Buying a voucher does not reserve a place on the course. You will need to redeem the voucher using the voucher number and return a completed booking form to us. Once the booking form is returned and accepted by us, then your reservation for the course is secured. Booking is on a first come, first served basis. You may not get your preferred dates if you book late.
